The sarong is a traditional Indonesian garment consisting of a long cotton muslin band that is expertly knotted at the waist to create a wrap effect, with the overlapping layers intertwining until they fall to the ankles. A true beachwear staple, the sarong embodies the refined exoticism of Gauguin's women.
In this print, handcrafted in India using the "bocchi" technique, two classic Lisa Corti motifs alternate in large stripes in shades of gold and red: the Dahlia, inspired by the fabric of an antique cretonne armchair, and the Leopard, inspired by an ancient Persian miniature.
